Live broadcasts from Automechanika via Periscope
Posted to Industry Events Forum on 4/22/2015

We're going to be experimenting with an interesting new iOS app called Periscope this week, live from the floor of the Automechanika show in Chicago (assuming we can get a strong enough internet connection). Periscope is an app that makes it easy to broadcast (and watch) live events, you may have heard of it recently as it's become fairly popular in a short period of time. My plan is to launch a short Periscope session when warranted. One of the other features that periscope offers is the ability to access a replay of the session for approximately 24hrs. And if any of these prove to be worthy of republishing, we'll upload them to iATN.

If you have an iPhone/iPad, you can download Periscope for free in the app store: https://itunes.apple.com/app/id972909677

For those following us on Twitter https://twitter.com/iATN, you should be able to quickly sign into Periscope with your Twitter account, and then choose to follow iATN on Periscope as well, and you'll get a notification whenever we start a live broadcast. (Twitter owns Periscope, hence the close integration between the two services.)

If you're not yet using Twitter, but interested in this experiment, you'll need to create a Twitter account at https://twitter.com/ and then follow us at https://twitter.com/iATN. This should make it easy to follow iATN on Periscope, in the People tab. Just click the "+" icon next to our name. You can also search for "iATN" on the people tab, to follow us.

If this experiment works out, we may look to use Periscope for more live events in the future.
