Hello Educators and Instructors!
We are excited to announce that we have developed a way for
automotive students to join iATN, through a new "student
membership" program.
One of the longest-running requests from educators and
instructors on iATN is, "How can we get our students on
here?" The primary roadblock has been that students are not
eligible for iATN, due to our requirement that a member have
at least 4 years of automotive industry experience, or an
ASE certification, or both. Dropping those requirements so
that students can join would not have been a good option for
our existing members, who are used to interacting on iATN
with fellow professionals.
We now offer a "student membership" to iATN. Your students
are eligible for this type of membership if they are 18+
years of age, attending automotive educational training
courses (whether it be college, vocational, or similar), and
referred by you or another educator/instructor that is an
existing member of iATN. This last part is key -- students
must be referred to iATN by educators and instructors like
you, in order to be guaranteed acceptance in iATN.
Student memberships have almost the same privileges as
regular membership accounts, with one caveat: they are
"read-only." Your students will be able to login to iATN,
read through the hundreds of thousands of forum discussions
(including all of the waveforms and other files found
therein), TechHelp requests and fixes, OEM information, and
the rest of the information found on iATN. They can even
upgrade to a premium membership and search the iATN
Knowledge Base to assist in their studies of real-world
repair cases. But they will not be able to post to iATN
until they "graduate" to a full membership.
Once a student member meets our full membership requirements
(4 years of work experience in the automotive industry,
and/or ASE certification), they will be able to transition
easily to a full membership. All they must do is update
their contact information through the account settings area,
with the name and contact information of their new employer
and their ASE credential information.

We are interested in your feedback on this new type of
membership, how you and your students use it, and whether or
not you're having any trouble with how it's currently setup.
This is just the beginning, and over time we look forward to
more ways we will be able to work with you and other
educators to make iATN more useful and accessible to
up-and-coming automotive professionals.
Thank you for your hard work, the automotive industry cannot
continue to progress without you!
